CAMERA TIPS

By David Hoadley

One bit of advice worth repeating. I "saved" several difficult lighting pictures this trip by bracketing: i.e. taking a picture at the correct, light meter reading and then two more at 1/2 f stop (or more) on either side of that reading. The meter can be fooled and won't always bring out what you want to see. Illumination levels can change rapidly near a dynamic storm's base. This is also essential with polarizers. Don't be stingy over a few cents worth of slides. Bracket! Bracket! Bracket! That bears repeating.
