Don Burgess sent information about the twin tornadoes which occurred on February 14, 1987 near Medicine Park, OK. The tornado formed near Cache about 1750 and moved northeastward toward Medicine Park. Thirty homes and the towns only church were destroyed. An NWS survey team was dispatched to the scene and found that the tornado caused strong F2 or weak F3 damage. "None of the buildings were well built", said Don. Vice Mayor Vester Stickler said, "The tornado came across the mountain from Fort Sill out of the clear blue sky". One girl suffered minor injuries when glass cut her leg. She was treated and released from a Lawton hospital. The tornado caused about two million dollars in damage. A second tornado formed about three miles west of Apache at 1805 and lasted 9 minutes.

The assistant editor was out chasing on Valentine's Day and fell in love with an isolated cell just east of Wichita Falls. Although, no tornadoes were sighted, damage reported indicated that golfball-size hail fell south of Temple, OK. After dusk, I encountered a strong wind gust in Decatur, TX on my way home. I was thinking that the storm may become tornadic right in front of me and I was driving into it. It was not the best feeling.
