Well since I can't change the title of that other thread I started I'll just make a new thread for this. It'd be cool to have a thread with some of our youTube video links. I know there are many on here that put footage on there.

After viewing youTube quite a bit for the first time yesterday(had viewed some before but not much) I figured I'd have to toss something on there.

So here is what I have on there. It's almost 10 minutes long, but very cut up from trying to fit parts of several chases on there.

Here is the promo for my Eastern fury collection of tornado videos. I plan on soon adding a compilation of my own tornado video set to music.

I would suggest entering the term "tornado" in the youtube search engine, then clicking on most recent. There is a lot of great stuff out there by chasers and the general public.

The Storms of 2006 is rapidly approaching completion and it is looking great! We have over 50 contributors, 10 chapters and a full 2 hours of video packed into the DVD. This is one that everyone that contributed should be proud of!

This is an early trailer that I just posted on YouTube:

Here's a small sample! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6-iSmmesWg)

Hi Mike

I explored YouTube in October for the first time and must say it's a very cool and addicting thing. There are so many stunning and amazing videos of severe weather events from around the globe that I now must check it nearly on a daily basis. My very interest is in big hail. The most frequently search term I therefore use is "hail storm" and then I sort by "Date added" to get the most recent ones.
I share the best ones (with big hail) with my swiss chaser community, if you want to browse them:
http://www.meteoradar.ch/forum/showthread.php?id=3656 (scroll down to the 12th of october to get to the YouTube videos)

Of course I'm also interested in other severe weather videos. The most spectacular and best ones I put here:
http://www.meteoradar.ch/forum/showthread.php?id=4407

I'm sorry if I missed the meaning of this thread, because I have no own video on YouTube. But I thought you might be interested. If you are curious about my own chaser videos, you can find two of them here:

I've got a couple things up as well...

A couple short, not very impressive clips...

Close lightning strike on a July chase

And a one minute clip of the rotating wall cloud from Sept 22 2006
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWxcw5U5qE8

I also made a little trailer thing for my not yet finished DVD. It's nothing special either, but figured I would add something to the thread since I did have some videos posted.

I've got ten storm chase music video sample clips listed on google video:

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=robert+prentice

However, I've been unable to upload any of them onto YouTube. I've tried various file sizes (725 KB to 13 MB), formats (mpg, wmv), and computers but to no avail. Their page page says "uploading", but the upload never completes. I've tried uploading for 12 hours straight, but to no avail. Their customer support is virtually non-existent. Very frustrating. Anyone else had a similar problem with YouTube?

YouTube was recently bought out by Google, so perhaps this will be a moot point soon?

I've had a similar problem. Am I right to guess what happens is the upload starts but then gets hung up somewhere (the red bar stops moving to the right) and would just stay there forever if you didn't intervene? You're right about their customer support, they either ignore me or send me a copy of the same generic FAQ that's already on their website.

What software/encoding are you using? I'm using Pinnacle Studio Version 9.4, 320x240, I tried .WMV but ran into that problem a lot and so far I've had better results with .mpg.

You've seen a "red bar" during your uploads? I can't even get that far! I've never made it past the "Uploading..." text message embedded within the gray box. The upload never completes and I must intervene. My web browser initiallysays "transferring" and then says "done" about 5-15 seconds into the upload.

I'm using Roxio Movie Maker (circa 2003). I've tried MPG and WMV files and neither will upload to YouTube. I've had no problem uploading to Google Video.

Bobby, my only possible solution would be to try Studio if you have it, and/or make your videos as close as possible to the specifications recommended by Youtube. They have given me a lot of trouble and each of my videos has taken several tries to upload properly.

By the way I don't have any storm stuff on there yet, just a bunch of railfan stuff, but that should eventually change.

Nice night-time capture, Brian. Usually, apart from power flashes, after-dark tornados are difficult to confirm. A rain/hail shaft or scud can look pretty convincing with the lightning and such. But you can clearly see the tornado with several of the flashes in this clip. In the super-night-shot mode section, you can just make out larger-scale rotation in the parent cloud as well. Nice job.

I've got some night-time clips of my own, but I don't think any are as clearly apparent as yours is. If you do post a time-lapse clip, let us know. And yeah, I do think the meso on that storm would be rather impressive during the day. One of these days, I'll make some time to edit and post some clips of ours.

I was hesitant to do so, but I put up my video of the August 22 2002 lightning bolt hitting a tree 17 yards away that I shot. I actually measured the 17 yards, so it wasn't one of those videos described as "omg! lightning hits 10 feet away!!!" where there is a 5 second period between the bolt and the thunder sound. Anyway...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbHpVVXFK0s

That pretty much started my becoming known as a lightning rod by most chasers here. The storm gave me what I deserved, right before it strikes that's me saying "Lightning doesn't make it severe, it's barely even rained!" knocking the strength of the storm. It had been very dull up to that point, but wound up being the most insane lightning storm I have seen in real life, or on any other video.

Here is a CRAPPY video of my car getting dyno-tuned at ATS Racing in Denton, TX.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQnCCqERO1s

The car weighs 2800lbs with me in it, and for people that aren't familiar with Brake Horsepower vs Wheel Horsepower... at an average of 15% for drivetrain loss (which is standard), 347whp is a about 410 horsepower at the crankshaft.

I got bored and made a new video a few days ago...its set to the lord of the rings music by enya - requiem for a dream.

Its 7 minutes long but dont give up on the beginning..i think it works out overall. I wont likely be chasing much for the next several weeks untill my wife finds her job (teacher) so this year is pretty much over for me (unless its Kansas south or after August), but its ok as once she does find that job I am free to do whatever I want which of course will be chasing full time without reservation. :-)
