Sony Cybershot w/1.3 Mega-pixels

I would like to someday purchase a digital camera with about 6 mega-pixels. I'm trying right now to decide which kind of digital camcoder to purchase. I've been advised not to purchase a MiniDV camcorder. I want a camera that is both rugged and either waterproof or water resistant.
