does anyone use one of these wifi signal locators? If so, or not, what is your impression of them? Are they useful for storm chasing? What products do you approve of?

Netstumbler works very well for me. It's free and it has an audible signal so you don't have to look at the computer all the time. It also has different color variations to represent the strength of the WIFI signal. Try it out because I think you will like it very much.

I have a Canary Wireless wi-fi detector. I like it because I don't have to break out my laptop to check if there's a signal.

It also tells me the name of the network and whether or not its encrypted.
