Reports of a possible fatality from LIX.
AT THIS TIME...IT IS BELIEVED THAT ONE FATALITY MAY HAVE RESULTED
IN THE PONTCHARTRAIN PARK AREA...AT LEAST SEVEN INJURIES REQUIRING
ATTENTION AND SEVERAL OTHER PERSONS TREATED AND RELEASED ON THE
SCENE.
I saw some of the damage on the local morning news earlier. It appears to be quite substantial, probably EF2, maybe EF3. A nice-looking brick home (obviously not sure of quality of construction) had its roof and exterior walls torn away.

storm reports indicating over 20 injured and 1 possible fatality just as you mentioned. Luckily Mardi Gras was not under way as one possible Tornado touched Down in East New Orleans. Hail size was not significant from Last Nights outbreak, Biggest report looked to be 175.

I notice the use of the recently departed F-scale in the newspaper "path of destruction" map. Can't help wondering who made such determinations.

NWS Local Storm Report. They used the F rather than EF terminology (even though an earlier PNS refered to the Enhanced Fujita Scale) and the paper apparently picked it up.

As I understand the LSR's aren't capable of saying "EF" as it's not an option in the system.
Maybe the EF scale was rushed in ;> ?

We had two EF-1 storms here in the BMX CWA. On 5 NNW of Centerville in Bibb County and then another down in Autauga County, AL. A few mobile homes were taken out and tree damage was extensive as it always is around here.
Here is a shot of the Bibb Storm...
