It has come to my attention from latest NOAA satellite images, that there appears to be cyclonic activity off Norwegian coast. Cyclone seems to be intensifying and it looks to be pretty powerful.

This is (http://saturn.unibe.ch/rsbern/noaa/dw/realtime/current/640/n1bcurr.jpg) the latest NOAA satellite image. Looks like situation in Northern Europe is favourable for cyclones. ESTOFEX says that there is a chance for thunderstorms today near the area I saw cyclone on satellite image. They say that storm system will affect Norway and Sweden in next 24 hours.

Here in Laguja it is windy from another cyclone, what has caused damage in Sweden and Finland

Tarmo,

Thanks for pointing this out! I am fascinated by polar lows (even though I live in a part of the world guaranteed never to experience one), and the image you provide shows a good one in a region that occasionally cranks out those photogenic "arctic hurricanes".

Best regards,

I actually live too. Since there is Scandinavia between me and Atlantic Ocean(and Arctic ocean as well), none makes it to here.

Below is from Norwegian Meteorological Institute:
Polar low 978 hPa, 72 north 11 east, moving southeastwards 25 knots, filling Saturday.

So yes, it is indeed PL.

It looks from this (http://koti.phnet.fi/jukka1974/noaa-15-04061442-hvct-precip.png) (pretty time sensitive link!) that it has made landfall in Norway. NMI says they expect winds up to 55 miles per hour. I also found this local radar (http://met.no/radar/nordland.html). Big kudos to NMI that they provide their radar image almost in real-time. I know that only Sweden and Latvia do it besides them in this area.
