Heavy snow has commenced in Dodge City. Much of western Kansas west of 100°W is now snow -- and heavy snow... which will continue through the day and well into the evening with widespread 6-10" and locally higher. This is pretty awesome! Thundersnow in Dodge City!!! It is coming down at about 2-3"/hr rate right now here in Dodge. All sorts of CG's from Garden City to Dodge City. Incredible!! More of my snowstormgasm on my blog, LOL.. weather weenie going nuts right now..

Very cold rain coming down here in Manhattan... We'll probably start seeing freezing rain later on this afternoon with snow starting this evening. I've heard some forecasts of 6-8 inches in the region.

Crap. I was hoping to head out to the lake and get some sun this weekend.

We have some very wet snow mixing in with the rain in Lenexa (KC west suburb)...seems to be about a 90% rain 10% snow mix at this time. It won't take long for this to switch over to the exact opposite once the sun goes down. Not quite as crazy as out by Mike Umscheid though...holy cow !!

About 3-4" here in Dodge City, at least I measured roughly 3" depth... probably more has fallen, given melting (it is mid-April after all and it's bright outside). Here is a photo from about 4pm CDT:

Very large wet snowflakes fell here in Overland Park for about a 15 minute periof between 5:15-5:32pm. I have video and am uploading it as we speak. I will continue posting video as the storm unfolds on this very unusual spring snow.

4" of a very wet, heavy snow here in St. John, KS. Rates have been such that we would have more but some melted at first. Still snowing hard.

Rain mixed with medium-large sized snowflakes continues to fall in the Antioch/I-435 area in OP. There was a short duration thunder snow around 7:15pm. Just got back from the store and there is a slushy accumulation forming on the tops of cars at this point. The rain/snow mix is about a 60/40 ratio at the time of this post.

That would certainly explain that huge bright band just south of the metro... that's exactly how our radar looked earlier today.... you guys are so close to real heavy snow! We ended up with 6.5" snowfall, but the depth is down to 5" now, if that. Looks like the deformation zone is filling back in over southwest KS... so perhaps one last gasp... the upper low is just now lifting out into oklahoma.
