Either that, or some kid has found the joy of filling up the tipping bucket with the garden hose.

No wonder they are experiencing flooding up in that region.

The May 5th rainfall event as well as other recent events caused some historic flooding near the James River Valley in South Dakota. Aberdeen was one of the worst hit with nearly 3/4 of the town recieving some flood damage and a state of emergency and curfew declared over the town. During a recent chase near Huron I saw hundreds of new lakes where agriculutural fields used to be and the James River was the highest I've seen it.

7.75" in Aberdeen over a 24hr period is a state record according to the NWS.
A wet start for Aberdeen:

2006 RAINFALL 15.94 INCHES
2007 RAINFALL - TO DATE 16.08 INCHES

During my drive back from KS, it appeared as if every low-lying area all the way north to Fargo, ND was saturated.

Had to take a major detour off I29 along the way, as the flooding claimed part of the highway at Missouri Valley, IA.
