That is an awesome time lapse, but IMO this one tops it, make sure to watch to the end:

Actually I have been thinking that I should do some time lapse stuff especially after Hays in May.

Paul very nice. I like the coloration and the movement of the storm in video. Hope to see more.

yeah, that was tight chad...

but it leads me to a question...how do you take such timelapse?

apparently he had that camera running for well over 6 hours...can you link up the camera directly to a computer?

surely there are no 6+ hour tapes out there...

I think they were probably using some type of digital slr. I can use my computer to control my rebel xt and I bet most if not all of those type of cameras can do that. By using a computer and having the camera on a ac adapter you can have as long of a time lapse as your hard drive can hold. I haven't had a chance to do a good storm time lapse doing this but I did do a stars and clouds time lapse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoD3ORKypZI) thats on youtube. You would have to a very expensive video camera to get the same results.

I messed around trying to do a time lapse with Pinnacle, and had to fast forward the video, then used Pinnacle's 4x, so I think it's around 40x. Video of the first tornado-warned supercell we were on, about 8 miles west of Pratt KS on 5/5/07.

I use Adobe Premiere which let's you stretch or shrink the time a scene takes. Much easier to hit your marks. Here's a couple of example I've got up on youtube:

The first is actually my entry at the 2005 Convention in Denver which was botched up.

Mike H also has some great time lapse footage in his TaintedLove short. Worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

I had the opp. to do a time lapse of a fairly strong cold front passage...it didnt have a lot of clouds and no rain so it was perfect from a photography standpoint.

Here's a video timelapse of a great lightening storm, as a dying supercell hits the coastal moisture and reignites.
