i HAD A QUESTION ABOUT THE DAVIS RAIN GAUGE? WHEN IT COMES OUT OF THE BOX DO I HAVE TO AJUST THE SCREWS ON IT TO GET A GOOD READING ON RAIN OR JUST LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS AND SEE HOW MUCH RAIN I GOT FROM A STORM?:confused:

Remove any packing screws (see instructions) and things of that nature, but otherwise, it's ready to go.

If you don't have the documentation with it try measuring the mounting hardware to determine this.

1 inch piping works very well. You can get interlocking 10 foot sections at any Radio Shack and most TV/Appliance stores.
Also check Davis Instruments, if you don't have an instruction manual. They may have them online.
