For now, the channels are limited at best, but I wonder how long before more programming options are available, such as The Weather Channel, CNN, etc.? Not that TWC is a great information source for chasers, but at least having visible satellite, etc.

With mobile internet now so popular, mobile satellite TV may be getting closer!
Also, being an XM subscriber, I hope XM makes a move on this technology as well.

Actually mobile sat TV has been around for a while now, although the antenna requirements have been complicated and bulky at best.

The real advantage here (the sirius system) will be the smaller antenna needed and easier use/setup.

In my opinion though the real breakthrough will be a viable and cost effective mobile satellite-based internet service. Perhaps we'll be seeing this soon too.

Yeah, I should have been more clear. Mobile SAT TV has indeed been around for a number of years. I once owned the whole MotoSAT system... high speed internet AND TV, but the dish could only be used while "stationary," so it would require me to pull over, find the signal, etc. - all told, it would take about 10+ minutes and that would get frustrating. I know they sell systems nowadays that will track while moving, those have been around for a number of years as well, but they're all rather expensive.

This is the first of what I would call afforadable-option, "mini" mobile SAT TV options much like the XM or Sirius radio systems. Looks pretty cool. I wouldn't mind having it on those long road trips for the kids, but perhaps their channel lineup will expand in the near future as well.

Any way you look at it, gotta love technology! :)

Hear, Hear!:D I suspect this system has the potential to really create some waves in the industry since it puts mobile TV into the hands of the consumer where the money often is. If there's enough interest I imagine the channel lineup will improve considerably, not to mention competition from XM and possibly others.

Im afraid if the two merge theyll have their hands full for a while trying to sort who gets the axe, Im sure further Sat TV systems will get the back burner, hopefully not.

For a dumb forcaster such as myself, try a regular TV, google dual 8125, prices are very cheap. This is an compact in dash AM/FM CD TV tuner with a very small screen but has inputs and outputs. No indication it will work after the 2009 signal conversion, anyone able to discern that please tell me. I have some success with it in KS last year, and some coverage along US 34 in eastern colo, as well as any local tv market. I always like to hear what the TV guys are forecasting. You can playback video while listening to music , etc.:rolleyes:

The tuner in the model you mentioned will not work with the new HDTV standard, unless they have some way to update it. You should be able to use it however with an outboard tuner or any video source for that matter since it has A/V inputs on it. I'm thinking the screen size is a bit small though for some folks.
