"May you get all you want, want all you get, and want for nothing."

Jesus Jay! Where's your sensitivity? It's happy holidays now. Some of us don't celebrate Christmas. Didn't you see the rule on leaving religion out of this. Mods please delete Jay's post. There is no god!
No, I'm just screwing around. Merry Christmas to everybody.

I read your post and I thought: "You gotta be kidding!" Honestly, I react with hostility against every "Happy Holidays" wish where "Merry Christmas" could be used instead. Although, the No Religion rule might put the Christmas greeting indeed into jeopardy.

Merry Christmas to you all and an active new year!

EDIT: Aren't we already having one Merry Christmas thread?

OOps I guess we are.. Mods feel free to combine these..my bad

I wont even get into the Christmas vs holiday thing. We all KNOW what this holiday is about.

Mikey Gribble

Indeed we do have a Merry Christmas thread already Tarmo, but hell, what's one more.
That avoiding saying "Christmas" drives me crazy too. You will be hard pressed to find a major business with any sort of decoration that says "Christmas". It's always "Happy Holidays" now. You have the godless liberals and tax raisers to thank for that (just kidding again, that's off SNL for those of you that don't know). They are lucky I'm not CEO of a major company or I would have "Christmas" splattered all over every one of our corporate stores just to piss the politically correct off. I grew up going to catholic schools, but I don't go to church and don't really consider myself catholic anymore. I still embrace Christmas though. Who really cares? I think it's more tradition than anything else. Kids don't think of the birth of christ when you say Christmas. They think of presents and time off school. It's great. Everybody loves Christmas and doing away with calling it that is about as ridiculous as it gets to me. We are so damn concerned about offending people anymore. We are so careful not to offend the minority that now we regularly offend the majority.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, too, for all! It's all about a time of renewal and rebirth and the return of the CAPE-producing sun (in the Northern Hemisphere anyway). Oh, no, wait -- it's about gifts and family obligations. No I'm just screwing around. Actually it's about.... Oy veh! :D

FYI, I have always said "Happy Holidays" to encompass both Christmas & New Year's. It's simply easier than saying "Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year." I'm just lazy that way. The fact it also "covers" all other religious holidays just happens to be a convenient coincidence.

I usually don't even say Christmas, I'm an "Xmas" kinda guy.

Robert Dewey
12-24-2007, 06:36 PM
I agree with Shane. Happy Holidays! (there, that covers everyone, everything, and the New Year to boot).

Just wanted to pass along Season's Greetings from our family to you and yours. Its been quite a year for many chasers! I hope that we'll have another banner year if we can only get by with no destruction and fatalities. Perhaps I'll see you at the Storm Chasers Convention in Denver Feb.15-17th. I hope you'll make a point to go as it is the 10th Anniversary of Roger Hill and Tim Samaras putting it on. I know it will be the best yet. I will try to host a get together here at the house in Piedmont, OK. the last Sunday in Jan. or the first Sunday in February. We'll see how people's schedules stack up. We've been doing some remodeling around the house so they'll be a few changes! More on that soon.

So however you celebrate this special time of year, do it with earnest and with safety, and never take life for granted.. everyday is a gift. Make it count.

Blessings Always
Rocky&family

Yes, Happy Holidays to everyone out there. And yes, that includes friends who celebrate all religions. I do not celebrate Christmas in any way, but I do celebrate Chanukah. So, I do thank those of you who kept us in your warm wishes too. For those of you who specifically stated that they essentially wouldn't be caught dead saying anything else but Merry Christmas, there are reasons why you are not a CEO of a company and why you will never be. I usually take all of the Merry Christmas wishes in stride and consider the person wishing me well in the holiday spririt...so that is OK. But the isolated, specific insensitive remarks that 2 people posted (one from a country that ryhmes with ammonia", I take offense.

Happy Holidays to all!! And to those who don't like me saying that...you have the rest of your life to get over it and to learn to be a little more sensative.

PS: Without starting a flame war, please note that I am referring to only 2 posts here. The genuine all-encompassing Christmas wishes I take as holiday wishes and wish the same to all of you.

Tarmo Tanilsoo

Happy holidays everyone! From the atheist corner of ST ;)

LOL. That's great. All the best to you and yours too.

PS: I am in South Florida on vacation right now. It is very strange seeing all of the decorations and Santa outfits when it is 80 degrees and humid. I'm pretty sure a "White Christmas" is not something they look for in the long range forecasts.....

I don't celebrate any holidays.

Yeah I do.

Merry Christmas! But not Hanukkah.

Okay, Hannukah too.

Too bad there's no way for someone to purchase and bring home for us a gift card for one free backlit wedge tornado. Happy Holidays all, except Tarmo, because I don't want him to get hostile.

Tarmo Tanilsoo

Happy Holidays all, except Tarmo, because I don't want him to get hostile.
Nah, you're fine. I am just hostile against oppression of another certain greeting(too late to add that point to my previous point), and since this causes one certain another greeting to be used, knee jerk conclusions are easy to come. My apologies to all. Happy Holidays(including New Years Eve!), Andrew...

Did I say I wouldn't be caught dead saying aything else besides Merry Christmas? And what I said some how conveys to you that I'll never be a CEO of a major company? Yeah, that makes sense.
I would have said sorry since you were offended, but since you handled it the way you did I'm not going to. Boo hooo hoooo. Get over it.
I make a point to say "I'm joking" after my statement, yet a couple people are still upset about it. Lighten up and find something meaningful to cry about.
BTW I'm atheist too.

Looks like the NWS in AMA is in the Christmas Spirit too! A friend just showed me this...

http://kamala.cod.edu/offs/KAMA/0712242150.fxus64.html

DISCUSSION

IT IS THE AFTERNOON BEFORE CHRISTMAS AND ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR
THE NWS IS FORECASTING ON THE METEOROLOGICAL FRONTIER.
THE MODELS ARE IN DISCORD WITH THIS TROF ON THE WAY...
AND WE ARE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF SNOW IS IN PLAY.

THE NAM IS IN A HURRY WHILE THE GFS KEEPS THINGS SLOW.
WHICH ONE TO BELIEVE AND DO I CONTINUE WITH SNOW?
TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD BUT MOISTURE IS LACKING.
SURFACE WINDS WON/T HELP BECAUSE THERE ISN/T ANY BACKING.

WITH DRY AIR AT THE SURFACE AND NO HOPES FOR SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW...
MOISTURE WILL HAVE TO FALL FROM ALOFT TO DOWN BELOW.
WITH SO MANY DIFFERENCES FROM MODEL TO MODEL
I FOLLOWED THE GFS SO I WON/T HAVE TO TWADDLE.........

In light of the ludicrous holiday greeting controversy in this thread, I have constructed a new greeting which addresses everyone and is sure not to offend:

Hapmerry Christanukahkwanzaaidays!!!!
:D

Take that, all you politically correct morons and obnoxiously opinionated arses!:p
Sorry. Was I thinking out loud there?
For crying out loud, people... regardless of what holidays we celebrate or how we celebrate them or what we call them, considering the time of year, can't we give this kind of nitpicking crap a respite and just show general good will towards our fellow man?
