Mid-level parameters and available moisture which were progged to be very marginal for supercells are looking better in truth. I am expecting a few isolated supercells to fire later this afternoon in west-central AZ and move to the east-northeast at 20-25 kts. Historically a brief tornado is possible from these rotating cells with this synoptic setup.
The SPC at the top of the hour has issued a severe watch for western AZ. A favorable target is the Wickenburg-Bagdad area and then up through Prescott and Williams-Flagstaff.
