Hello all,
First time poster (#2 really) and wanted to say hello to all. My question, has anyone had problems running GRLevel3 on VISTA Home 32bit?
My problem is when I go to start the program I first get the UAC box advising me that GR wants to access my computer, when I click on allow, I get a msg that GR has stopped working.
I can't find any help on the GRLevelX Trial Support Forums.
Any suggestions?

I am running GRLevel3 on Vista just fine. It might be having a video driver conflict, make sure your video card's driver is up to date and try reinstalling.

Here are a couple posts form the oweners forum
With Vista you need to make sure that you install the program with admin privileges
If you're running Vista then the most likely cause is that Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is killing grlevel3.exe. Search for DEP in Vista's Help and turn it off for grlevel3.exe.

Jeff, what does the error say when it comes up. I'm not sure what it could be, but make sure you have the actual icon that you click on in the Grlevel3 folder. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah - we need the exact text of the exit box. One of the more common reasons why GR3 doesn't load - incorrect computer clock settings. Is your computer clock (lower right-hand corner on Windows machines) set to the correct time? GR will not load up if the clock is incorrect by an appreciable amount.

Yeah the clock could be if the time on your pc is more than 5 mintues ahead of or behind the utc clock it will exit GR

Clock is fine.
I can right click on the program icon in the correct folder and run as admin and still get the following errors.
First, I get the windows User Account Control window informing me that an unidentified program wants to run. I clicked on allow.
Next,
1907
then,
1908
Thanks,
Jeff

Install with admin privledges
You can also try to do a search
Start/Search/grlevel3.exe
when you see the icon right click it and run as admin
see what that does for you
I have been using GR3 and GR2AE on Vista Enterprise 32bit for a year and not had any issues.

How did you get version 1.44 if you do not have access to the
Owners forums?
You stated earlier you could not find an answer in the Trial Users Forum,
thus I wonder why you do not look for the answers in the Owners forums?
Have you registered it? If so, you should ask the question in the Owner
Forum.

V1.52 is the latest... Did you run/install as admin as pointed out above?

I download the grlevel3_setup.exe file. It was version 1.44. I'm not a owner. I am still trying to install program via the 21 day trial. Thus I do not have access to the owners forums.

Last possibility I can think of is DEP. Have you posted on the Trial Forums?

1.44 will not work unless the program is registered.

have not registered the program?
The only place you should be able to get that program
is from the Owners Forum.
I hope folks are not passing around grlevel3_setup.exe
and reg. keys again, Mike will be thrilled!

The error message is a generic message from vista not the program itself. I get the same thing with I.E sometimes. If its a trial program within it's period it should run. If all is legit and this is probably too easy for a fix..but try and shut off your firewall and antivirus software if activated to see if it runs then. I have had issues with other programs not running well with certain anti-virus stuff etc. If that doesn't work try going into safe mode and trying to run it there. I have vista 32 and run the grlevelx programs glitch free though. Maybe it's just running into a conflict..?

Not 100% releated....but FYI, GRLevel3 is working wonderfully for me on Windows7...and it was as simple to set up as on XP. I skipped Vista.

Solution found. It was DEP. I turned DEP off for GRL3 and it is running now. Thanks everyone!

It really will. That's the trial version, if you have a key - it becomes the registered one ;)

Now is there anyway to get rid of the UAC for one program? I know you can turn UAC off completely. With GRL3 I get the UAC every time I launch the program. Is this normal for everyone else?
