Hi!
I'm watching this features: http://www.allisonhouse.com/examples/radar-comparison.png
But all the radar have this type of resolution?
And why its not visible to all?
Thanks a lot.

All except a few DoD sites, and it is visible to all users of GR2 or GR2AE. Level III data is not transmitted in high resolution.

So, I've bought Grlevel3 and I can't see this high resolution radar?

No you can't. Level3 radar isn't transmitted in high resolution. You have to get Level2 data to do that. Hope this helps you out.

Yes, sure!
Thanks a lot man, now I'm going to buy Grlevel2.
So, the last information: a polling configuration free exist for Grlevel2?
Thanks in advance

Yes, it's in the owners forum at GRLevelx.com

GRLevel3 will show the super resolution images, but only for the sites operating a TDWR.
You just put this link under the polling URL: http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/data/nexrd2/raw/

Just to be clear, GR3 is a great program for storm chasing. I have it as well as GR2 and GR2AE. Despite the much better resolution of GR2, GR3 is arguably the more effective tool for field operation. I look at it as a blunt instrument--it gives me the big picture quickly and includes some helpful eye candy and data, such as meso markers and VIL, that GR2 doesn't offer. Also--and Rob or anyone more informed than I can correct me if I'm wrong--I believe you get downloads faster.
GR2 is great for drilling down to details that GR3 doesn't show, and it gives you all tilt levels where GR3 only gives you the lower four (which are usually all you need). But I believe it's a bit slower, and if you want SRV--which of course you do--then you've got to set the direction yourself, and reset it as the storm evolves, whereas GR3 does that automatically.
What I'm saying is, there's a tradeoff. I'm not sure whether you feel you made the wrong move purchasing GR3, but you didn't. And now that TDWR is becoming available at various locations, you'll get at least some hi-res L3. But it can't hurt to add GR2 to your toolkit. Maybe it will become your primary tool, or maybe it will serve as an adjunct to GR3. Either way, at $80 per software product, you can't go wrong.
BTW, GR2AE is incredible, but it's not very practical for chasing. When you're in the field, you want to be focusing on the storms, not the radar.

Not entirely true. Yes, the resolution is increased (by nature of it being a TDWR), but it is still a Level III product and, as such, 4-bit.

So, I'm thinking that this year I'll chase with all two software at the same moment.
what do you think?

You'll need high speed to get Level II consistently, but there's no harm in running both at the same time.

I agree with Bob Hartig in that GRL3 should be your field radar display program. I absolutely love GRL2AE but when I am an active spotter rather than a net controller, I don't have time to play with both toys and watch the road and sky. I may have two instances of GRL3 running on two different radar locations just to keep things interesting.
I also keep GPS driven APRS and mapping programs going although with the Allison House and Spotter Network feeds into GRL3, these are not as needed as in the past.
Now, with the addition of 'SevereStreaming' at least other people might see the sky while I am playing laptop jockey.
When I am tied to the desk,I have several additional programs running; the laptop is running with two screens as is the desktop. I usually have RealEmwin and Digital Atmosphere Equinox (had to plug Rob Dale's and Tim Vasquez's programs) along with GRL2AE and GRL3.
With the advent of 'SevereStreaming' I will probably add two more screens to keep track of the feeds from the spotters/chasers.
Toys, toys, toys I love'em but we need to look away every once in awhile to see the sky and smell the rain...
(as an aside I have been forced from behind the wheel to behind the desk the past several years due to poor eyesight, especially in dim light. I bought two new eyes (lens replacement) for this chase season and I hope to put some hail dents in the newly acquired pickup.)

Joe, to your list I would probably also add looking at the road. Don't know how many times I have caught myself driving by the GPS just to remember the lag (oh, and those pesky other cars...) ;-)
Good luck with the new eyes. Would go crazy if I was stuck behind the desk...

Some of us have had mixed results with ATT and Alltel. My work uses ATT which is not 3g in this area and I personally have Alltel which is 3G here but not as good a coverage in some parts of the OK and TX panhandle.

I'm thinking of use Sprint http://coverage.sprintpcs.com/IMPACT.jsp?PCode=vanity:coverage and AT&T http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/.
So, can you help me to verify if I can keep theese two mobile broadband connection not contract but prepayed?
Thanks in advance

You can't prepay for mobile internet usage with any of the carriers, as far as I know. Alltel (at least they did last season) would allow you to subscribe to a month-to-month plan provided you either owned your own connection equipment (PC card or USB) or bought it and paid for it in full from them. You could then terminate your contract after any amount of time, whether or be 1 month or 1 year, without a penalty. I bought a card off of eBay and then used this last year.
I had pretty decent coverage in the TX Panhandle with it. I'm not sure what the status is with their merger with Verizon, but that could only improve coverage. Last year, Alltel also had a roaming agreement with Sprint, so you could use their towers, too.
Again, this is all about what was available last year. I have no clue about this season. The only way to know for sure is to call each of the cell companies and ask them. Also, keep in mind that some of the companies have caps on their usage. AT&T has a 5GB cap, I think.

How very true. I may say stuff tongue in cheek, but living in this country beats many of the alternatives.

Here is a link to TDWR information from Lincoln Labs. It includes a map (not sure how up to date it is) of TDWR locations.
