The Historical Storm Chases section does not use strict guidelines and rule enforcement. If you're simply replying to an existing thread, as long as you stay on-topic with the chase day being discussed and contribute useful information, you're fine.
However if you wish to start a NEW THREAD, please note the following:
* When starting a new thread, always use the subject format "MM/DD/YY: Description". Since most old chases are remembered by an event name, a description should describe the event, i.e. 4/10/79: Wichita Falls TX and Red River outbreak, not 4/10/79: OK/TX. Moderators and staff might adjust this.
* Only one thread per chase day is allowed unless there are widely-separated, distinct target areas.
* This is for discussion of events before 2005. For events in 2005 onward a Target Area thread likely exists and you should search it and add to it so others can find the information. We do allow those threads to be bumped because it adds new information and photos.
* Events that are not relevant to a noteworthy storm chasing or noteworthy Great Plains thunderstorm event are prohibited. In other words, no "8/12/02: Tallahassee flash flood". The moderators reserve the right to move relatively insignificant events out of this section.
Threads that do not conform to these guidelines will be moved out of Historical Storm Chases into the weather discussion forums.
