I see the term 'SDS' used a lot with reference to the winter season.
What does SDS stand for?

Storm Deprivation Syndrome
All chasers suffer this at one time or another. It's not proven to be genetic, though there is some research leaning that way. It IS, however, contagious. It IS limited to the Storm Chaser Community in general. The only known temporary relief is chasing a storm. There is no known cure.

In East Texas, I walked outside yesterday morning to gusty winds and an atmosphere that FELT like severe weather was about to pop.
Most folks gasp when they walk into air that is way too cold. When you gasp at a warm, windy morning... and it's February, you have SDS.
We had SVR about 60 miles south. Too bad I had to sit at work and watch it on radar. I actually did an RHI three times with our in-house system... ahh to see hail!
