Naturally, I missed the best storm in the Valley this year as I was on
vacation. A photographer captured some spectacular images of the
stovepipe. Enjoy.

Those are absolutely spectacular photos! My only question is: Why doesn't Oklahoma get stuff like this? LOL

IF only I had stayed in MN AND went north. But no I had to go west into SD and see nothing but a LP that died once I got to it.

Like Justin, I was out of town on vacation over the 4th of July weekend. If I had been in town, this was only an hour's drive or so NNE of GFK. I was at Lake Eue Claire (WI), far, far away and totally unaware of what was happening.

Archived radar (if you get it in time) had some very nice representation:

BTW: I've e-mailed the guy about possibly posting larger images. Will let you all know if I hear back.

Can't ask for anything better than shots like that. Sweet.

Some of the absolute BEST shots I've ever seen. A perfect "10".

I don't know if I would give it quite a 10... everyone needs one of these:

Easy way to prevent tilted horizons. Many tripods also have built in levels. I have a small bubble leveling mount that attaches below my tripod head that can level up to 15degrees or so. A must have.

Tilted horizon? Aaron, that's a rare Minnesota hillside! :D The train track in the immediate foreground is parallel, so the photographer is on the level.

I nominate the Tornado with Yellow Eyes (even if they are headlight reflections) for the Scariest Storm Image thread...

I'm obviously blind ;) hence why I need a level :D
