SGF NWSFO has several PNS statements out regarding several of the tornadoes in their CWA. I think a couple were F3, a couple were F2, and another was less. TSA/TUL NWSFO also has some info on an F3 that struck from Centerton to Carroll co. AR.

This was an amazing outbreak for us. May 4th, 2003 used to be the "storm of the century" for us but this outbreak definately beats it at least in terms of number and strength of tornadoes.

The NWS keeps finding more detail and the surveys should be mostly wrapped up by Thursday. I will continue to work on radar loops for this event including an overlay of tornado tracks. Many more photos will be added as my schedule permits.

Jeff, im putting together the radar data, soundings with the information you and Sam are providing on the tornadoes. Specifically to see which tornadoes where associated with which cell. I hope to have it done by this weekend. I'll start a thread tonight and start build it up through the weekend.

A truly incredible outbreak with 56% of the tornadoes being strong or violent. I was anticipating a major outbreak but perhaps not that bad. With all the initial F2/F3 ratings I was surprised to see the F4 from LSX, interesting nonetheless.

There is now 136 tornado reports?? Wasn't there a number of 117 tornadoes few days ago? Its weird how number has increased that much.

In this video grab of the the Centerton and Bentonville tornado I am facing south southwest driving down hwy 72.
It appears to me there might be another bigger(main?) tornado and a better defined wall cloud to the right at the edge of the picture. Any thoughts? Besides pay better attention. :rolleyes:

As a note, I've updated the tornado count with the latest from LSX (St. Louis), who released a slew of PNS statements / damage surveys yesterday (I drove from OUN to MN today, so I'm just getting to it).

Regarding the large number of "strong" tornadoes (>=F2 I presume)... Remember that many of these storms were moving at 50-70mph, which certainly adds to the ground-relative wind speeds on the right flank of a tornado. This certainly doesn't account for the relatively high number of F2 and F3 tornadoes, but it probably impacts it to a degree. Interestingly enough, only one F4 has been determined...

I'm not sure what the average number of tornadoes is for the LSX CWA, but I'd imagine that 42 is pretty close to it... If this is the case, the LSX NWSFO matched its average number of tornadoes per year in a 2-day span in (which is technically, though not meteorologically) still WINTER!

I was wondering if anyone saved hires radar imagery of the supercell over Jonesburg, Missouri (Montgomery County). This was the second tornadic supercell to affect Montgomery county during the outbreak. I'm interested in images (level 3 if possible) of the storm as it was producing the F3 tornado at Jonesburg. The supercell was small and had an interesting 'discontinuous' hook echo with a ball of reflectivity detached from the parent storm.

All of the archived loops I've found end just as the supercell is approaching Jonesburg. If anyone could point me to this info I'd be appreciative.
