This radar mosaic uses 248 nm long-range WSR-88D base reflectivity. Most websites only go out to 128 nm, missing the storm as it gets closer, and are composite, thus masking the spiral structure. At far distances from the radars, the beams may overshoot the top of the storm, so more of the storm may be present than what is pictured.

Surface data is buoy and synoptic and is only updated every six hours; as the hurricane gets near landfall we will switch to hourly METAR data (we won't do both as this presents a jumble of analysis times).
